Unique Potato Chip Flavours in Singapore

We don’t discriminate when it comes to potatoes - fried, baked, mashed - we love them all. But there’s just something especially satisfying about the crunch of a potato chip, and the way a thin slice of potato packs a powerful punch of flavour that makes them a must-have in our pantry.

Here are the 8 unique  potato chips flavours we reach out for when we’re feeling peckish:

Once you pop open a bag and take a whiff, you'll immediately know these flavours are the real deal.

Inspired by Singapore's classic local dishes - Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Egg Prata with Fish Curry - these chips are seasoned to perfection using actual ingredients (such as coconut powder and shrimp powder in their Singapore Laksa Potato Chips).

Calbee Singapore Chilli Crab Chips

Nothing really beats chomping on a juicy crab claw slathered in a fragrant chilli-egg sauce but when we want a quick (temporary) fix for our Chilli Crab cravings, we’re digging into these chips!

Nissin Cup Noodles Tom Yam Seafood and Black Pepper Crab Potato Chips

If you’re a fan of Nissin’s cup noodles but prefer crunching on your meals rather than slurping them up, you’ll be fan of these.

Warning: These chips pack a seriously spicy punch! If you’re not good with the heat, you may wanna prepare a glass of ice-cold milk on the side when munching on them.

Jack ‘n Jill Bak Kwa Chips
This bag of chips checks all the boxes. The saltiness of the meat, the sweetness of the marinade and a hint of smokiness from the burnt jerky bits - mmm just thinking about Bak Kwa* makes our mouths water.

*Bak Kwa: a dried savoury-sweet meat usually made from pork and especially popular among the Singaporean Chinese during festive periods.

Salted Egg Chips

Some things you truly have to experience to understand its popularity – Salted Egg Yolk is one of them. If you visit the convenience stores or supermarkets in Singapore, you’ll probably stumble upon some Salted Egg snacks.

But…. there’s one brand in particular you’ll see people carrying bags of - Irvins. Even though the Irvins Salted Egg Potato Chips are light and airy, they still manage to deliver an intense burst of salted egg yolk that’s dangerously addictive.

They’ve got a store at Somerset MRT station. (just one stop away from Orchard MRT.)

P.S. If you want to skip the long queues at the regular Irvin’s outlets, grab your bag (or bags) at Changi Airport’s T2 or T3 departure halls. Buying at duty-free saves you about a good dollar per bag and if the usual limit of five bags - yes, the crisps are so popular that there’s a purchase limit per visit - isn’t enough for you, you can get up to seven bags of any Irvins snack at the airport outlets!

If you’re wondering where you can buy these bags of edible happiness, we’ve compiled a list of the convenience stores and supermarkets in the area. Happy hunting!
