Nestled in the heart of Singapore lies a sanctuary for nature lovers and a tourist attraction aged more than 150-year-old — Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage site, the Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG)!

Here are 5 free activities you can participate in at the SBG this July!

Getting There: A short 10-minute bus ride or a slow 30-minute stroll from Royal Plaza on Scotts Orchard Hotel.

1.Enjoy free music extravaganzas and concerts in the park

This July, park-goers can expect a range of performances from an exuberant multicultural music and dance extravaganza (CHAI!), to a symphony of well-loved classics (The Straits Times’ Concert in the Gardens) while enjoying the cool evening breeze against the backdrop of the sunset at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage and Bandstand.

There’ll also be a special evening of Cantonese and Hokkien repertoire!

 2.Celebrate the rich heritage of the Singapore Botanic Gardens with the SBG Heritage Festival

Singapore Botanic Gardens celebrate its rich heritage during two fun-filled weekends. Be captivated by the Heritage Orchid Display at the National Orchid Garden where you can enjoy free admission* during the Festival, and tingle your tastebuds with yummy treats from food trucks and the Gardens’ cafes and restaurants!

There’ll also be Children’s Craft-Making Workshops at the Green Pavilion and the Plant Bazaar where you can take home your favourite blooms at a steal!

 3.Turn Nature into Art with “Nature Sketching in the Gardens”

Immortalise the wonders of the Gardens into a sketch with volunteer artist, Mr Tham Pui San, and pick up observational skills in a therapeutic session for all ages.

Don’t forget to bring your own sketching materials such as drawing block, pencils and erasers as they won’t be provided!

 4. Attend complimentary guided tours around the Singapore Botanic Gardens

Take a respite from the busy streets of Singapore and spend time with your loved ones over a picnic outdoors.

If you’re heading down to the Singapore Botanic Gardens on 8 - 9 July 2017, you’ll also get to participate in "Weird Wonderful World”, a fun-filled picnic day organised by Tiong Bahru Bakery with a plethora F&B pop-ups from Common Man Coffee Roasters, House at Dempsey, Open Farm Community, Open Door Policy and Tiong Bahru Bakery.

There’ll also be exciting family-friendly activities such as yoga, bootcamps, meditation and farming for park-goers to have a lively afternoon of fantastic food and great atmosphere!
